Are you interested in giving back to your community through the Klickitat County Fire District #4 (Lyle Fire Department)?
We are looking to appoint a great candidate to fill the vacant Fire District Commissioner Position #3.
The person appointed will serve until the November 2026 election. If the individual is interested, they may opt to run for election to serve a full 6-year term.
The Board of Fire Commissioners is responsible for budgeting, policies, and providing administrative oversight for the fire district. Regular public business meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 7pm at the station (Note - November and December meetings are adjusted to the 3rd Thursday). The Board occasionally holds additional special business meetings and workshops throughout the month, as necessary. Commissioners can participate remotely via phone or online platform if they are unable to attend in person.
Commissioners must meet the following minimum requirements to hold office:
U.S. Citizen
Minimum age 18 years
Registered voter residing in the fire district for at least 30 days
No felony convictions
Commissioners are required to attend meetings regularly.
The following knowledge and experience are favorable but not required:
Public office
Fiscal budgeting
Volunteer organizations
Personnel management
Fire departments
Interested parties are required to submit a letter of introduction and resume to the district at
workwithus@lylefire.com by February 8th. Interviews will take place in January and February, and the candidate will be appointed at an open public meeting on February 26th.
