Continuing a long-standing tradition of investing in local nonprofits and essential services, the Legends Casino Hotel recently awarded more than $1 million in community grants. The Lyle Fire Department received a portion of funding for important firefighter safety equipment.
Established through the Treaty of 1855 and consisting of 14 Tribes and Bands, including the Klickatat people, the Yakama Nation owns and operates Legends Casino Hotel as well as their philanthropic efforts.
As a recipient of such support, the Lyle Fire Department will implement an exhaust extraction system in the fleet bays to improve firefighter safety.
“One half of 1% of net revenues from our tribal lottery systems are funding these community grants. If our community continues to sustain us, those monies will increase. We’ve had 27 years of a wonderful partnership with the community, and we hope to continue that and expand this program.” - Deirdre Fojuwaye, assistant marketing director at Legends Casino Hotel
We appreciate Community Enrichment for Klickitat County (CEKC) for their collaboration which made this funding opportunity a possibility.
