Small Actions, Big Impact
Fire Risk Reduction on Your Property

Living in a Fire Prone Area
Living in a seasonally fire prone area can be a dynamic experience with a lot of responsibility. Small actions on your property taken ahead of fire season can make a huge difference in saving your home from fire.

Property Assessment
Wildfire Ready Neighbors offers free information to help a property owner better understand the risk on their land. Several in-person learning events are coming up to grow risk reduction knowledge. Contingent availability, Lyle Fire volunteers may be able to offer a free assessment.
Risk Reduction Planning
Once property risk is assessed, an informed plan can be made to reduce the fire risk. This may include landowners focusing on DIY tasks like clearing gutters, moving woodpiles from buildings and adjusting landscaping near homes to the use of private contractors to limb trees on forested property.
Risk Reduction Resources
Resources like the Underwood Conservation District (landowners east of the Klickitat River), Lyle chipping events, the Mount Adams Prescribed Burn Association, and the Washington Department of Natural Resources costshare program may be of interest.
Annual Fire Season Preparation
In anticipation of fire season, confirm your Klickitat County Evacuation Notice information, refresh your evacuation plan (especially if livestock are involved) and confirm that the property's fire risk reduction efforts are still effective.
