DNR Grant Funds Much Needed LFD Communications Upgrade

The Washington Department of Natural Resources recently announced their grant investments under House Bill 1168.
The Lyle Fire Department is excited to share that on this list of funded projects is the Department's proposal to upgrade antiquated and unreliable radio technology to modern mobile communications equipment.
The fully funded proposal includes radio units that will have digital P25 capabilities and on-scene programming. This new communications technology is an investment in volunteer safety as well as an investment in response efficiency and effectiveness, allowing for greater communication reliability within our district and cross-compatibility outside of the district during mutual aid scenarios like responding to wildfires.
The new equipment will prove to be very impactful for the Lyle community.
